The COE is trying very hard to limit the spread of invasive garlic mustard in the Sugar Bottom area. ICORR has been trying to assist with this. Some of us are meeting at the back parking area between 5:45 and 6:00PM this coming Wednesday, May 4. There is a fairly large patch of the noxious plant near the beginning of the 304 trail. We will go in and park around the 301 end point and take the short walk in to the area on 304. This is the largest infestation we’ve found and it’s crucial to get it out before it flowers and goes to seed fairly rapidly (by June) after which deer, riders and hikers can spread it around. A bunch of people and and hour or 2 should do it. Come join in if you can. Might bring a little something to toast the demise of the garlic mustard afterward 😉 We’ve been fighting it on 104, 101, and 105 but most of these areas are sort of under control.
